Château du Cedre first introduced their “Le Cedre” in 1996, and the world of wine became a better place for it. The great British wine writer James Turnbull writes, “…the Le Cedre is surely the finest Malbec wine in France. Black as ink, soft and remarkably sensual it is creamy and concentrated with rich black fruit and licorice flavor, rounded off by the subtle vanilla backdrop imparted by its oak ageing.” This wine is ample, rich and fleshy, with perfect balance and impeccable class. This is the ultimate expression of malbec from Cahors and enjoys a cult-like following in Europe. A truly remarkable and memorable wine to enjoy with grilled tri-tip or with cheese such as Rocamadour or Cabecou.
Really beautiful and mature bouquet with dark berry fruits still, cedar, sweet spices, iodine and leather as well as a pleasant touch of barnyard. On the palate a pleasantly sweet start with ripe dark forest fruits, , leather, tobacco, forest floor, cinnamon and other sweet spices. Beautiful acidity and soft tannin. Very well balanced wine at its absolute peak now. (cellartracker)
